Scouts may progress through 7 ranks and earn up to 140 Merit badges

How to rank advance.
- Attend scout meetings. Bring your handbook. Participate in the activities and have the scoutmaster or assistant scoutmasters sign off your requirements.
- In addition to paper records, scoutbook is a valuable online and app-based tool to keep track of progress.
- When you complete all the requirements, schedule a scoutmaster conference. Email scoutmaster@bsa168.org to schedule. Make sure to copy (cc) a parent or other adult on all your scouting emails.
- Following your scoutmaster conference, email advancement@bsa168.org to schedule a board of review. Make sure to copy (cc) a parent or other adult on all your scouting emails. Attend your board of review. Come prepared with your scouting handbook checklist (physical, printed or digital) and all needed documentation.
- Attend a court of honor and receive your rank advancement patch and recognition.

- Find a merit badge counselor and contact them. Here is the list of merit badges and which local troop leaders are counselors.
