Troop 168 Order of the Arrow Webpage
The Order of the Arrow is Scouting’s National Honor Society. It is for those who have been chosen by their fellow scouts.
Membership Requirements
· Be a registered member of the BSA.
· After registration with a troop of team, have experienced 15 days and nights of Boy Scout camping during the two-year period prior to the election. The 15 days and nights must include one, but only one, long-term camp consisting of six consecutive days and five nights of resident camping, approved and under the auspices and standards if the BSA. The balance if the camping must be overnight, weekend, or other short-term camps.
· Youth must be under the age of 21, hold the BSA First Class rank of higher, and following approval by the Scoutmaster of Varsity Coach, be elected by the youth members of their troop or team. Adults may be selected following nomination to the lodge adult selection committee.
After being elected, the scout must then be tapped out at a Camporee, or any other camp that has a tap-out ceremony. Then, they must attend an ordeal to be officially be part of the OA. There are four ceremonial characters that are at the tap-out and ordeal. These Indians are Kitchkinet, the Guide of the Lodge, Nutekit, the Guard of the Lodge, Meteu, the Medicine Man of the lode, and Allowat Sakima, the Mighty Chief of the Lodge.

To seal your membership in the OA, you must get your Brotherhood. To do this you must attend the ordeal but you don’t have to take part in it. There are three types of OA members: Ordeal, Brotherhood, and Vigil. Vigil is the highest type of member you can be.

These are the sashes that you will see a member wearing. You wear the sash on occasions that have to do with the OA.
